Greenock Estate Wines derives its’ name from a single shiraz vineyard planted in 1948 near the historic village of Greenock in South Australia’s premier wine region, the Barossa Valley.The inspiration for this unique wine brand came when three friends – one a renowned winemaker, one a fourth-generation grapegrower and the third, a wine sales consultant – Frederick Liu, stumbled across this old vineyard and recognized the quality of the fruit. The trios’ passion for this vineyard and the region, lead to the creation of Greenock Estate Wines.In 2013, commercial production commenced at Greenock Estate Wines from grapes sourced from this longstanding vineyard.
